Botswana Football Association (BFA) chief executive officer, Kitso Kemoeng has said the association does not have money to pay players following recent boycotts. Kemoeng said the association used to pay the players’ allowances from sponsorship money, but Orange Botswana has since discontinued support.

“The issue is money. We struggle to get friendly matches to prepare the team. In the past, they would get appearance fee from sponsorship money. Effectively there is no money,” Kemoeng said.

The players downed tools for the second time in a less than a week when they refused to take part in training on Monday. They were expected to return to training late yesterday afternoon.
