FRANCISTOWN: In a rather shocking development, the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) is reportedly considering dumping Ignatius Moswaane, its controversial candidate in Francistown-West constituency. The news was reportedly delivered by two members of the BDP central committee – secretary general Mpho Balopi and deputy treasurer, Thapelo Olopeng - at an in-house meeting at the party office last Sunday.

Members of the regional and branch committees and this year’s general elections candidates, including Moswaane, attended the meeting.

“Balopi and Olopeng came with a proposal that in view of the troubles dogging the party, the party faithful in Francistown-West should support Kago Phofuetsile as the parliamentary candidate,” said an insider who preferred anonymity.
