Ditshwanelo on sexual orientation and gender identity

The Botswana Centre for Human Rights, is concerned about the language used to address the issue of sexual orientation, in an opinion piece by Gaontebale Mokgosi in the Mmegi of April 13, 2016 .

The newspaper article not only uses language which is discriminatory and disrespectful, but does not provide sources for the “facts” stated in the article.

The article claims that those who engage in the advocacy of sexual orientation and gender identity rights are pushing a ‘western agenda’ and are ‘encouraging the depopulation of society’ and ‘barbarism’ which emerged with homosexuality.
