Mmegi Online :: Olopeng to engage Seretse on Liquor Act

Since the last festive season, Olopeng has been showing signs of a progressive leader when he extended entertainment hours to the delight of fun lovers countrywide. Last week he met with entertainers in Gaborone and promised them that he would engage the Minister of Trade and Industry, Vincent Seretse to have entertainment hours extended. This week this Mmegi reached Olopeng to seek more details on the matter.

“I am getting into talks with minister Vincent Seretse.

We are still at an early stage, after our talks we will then have to take it to cabinet. We will tell you when the time is right,” said Olopeng.

He did not entertain more questions for fear that it would jeopardise the negotiations.

For his part, Seretse professed ignorance of Olopeng’s intentions.

“Minister Olopeng has not informed me about his intentions.  I have not heard anything from him about the intended extension of liquor trade hours. Call me next week Friday maybe then, I will have information I can share,” Seretse said.

It seems the minister organised a free festival in December for his constituents.  The minister has since become a sweetheart to most youth for actively liberating them from hardships through access to getting tenders and other services promised.

Should he win the fight to extend trading hours, he will earn the favour and respect of not only the young but also many in the liquor and entertainment industry.
