Opposition worried by transfer of PEEPA to OP

Opposition Members of Parliament are weary at the latest move to transfer the Public Enterprises Evaluation and Privatisation Agency (PEEPA) to Office of the President (OP).

They expressed concern that the move and other earlier transfers of government departments to the OP are not justified and are likely to overwhelm the office.

When contributing to the debates on the consolidated and development funds estimates 2016/17 committee of supply on Tuesday, Gaborone Bonnington South, MP Ndaba Gaolatlhe, lamented the decision to transfer PEEPA to the OP. He said although he supported the budget for the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning, he is not sure if Matambo had anything to do with the decision.
