Fresh thinking on water crisis (Part 2)

Last week Mmegi published my proposal for supplying desalinated sea water to Botswana, an idea I have had for a number of years.

Government has announced its signing of an agreement to bring water from Lesotho to Botswana, for which they must be congratulated.

I do not know the long-term capability of the Lesotho source. Global warming is pushing back winter ice in the Arctic, in Greenland,   for example. It is possible that Lesotho may be similarly affected, in the long-term, and coupled with a rising population in Southern Africa, may not be able to provide an indefinite water supply. I therefore strongly believe that within our children’s lifetimes, obtaining the region’s water from the unlimited oceans will become a reality.
