The International Pentecostal Church (IPC) is mourning the death of its bishop, Clayton Modise, who reportedly died early Tuesday. At the moment, details of Modise’s death remain sketchy.

Modise is the son of Rev. Frederick Modise, popularly known to church members as “Moemedi” and “Ntate” who founded the church in 1962 in South Africa. Modise was installed the church bishop in 1998 following his father’s death.

Popularly known for its choir, the International Pentecostal Church Choir (IPCC), the church has its headquarters in Zuurbekom (Silo), west of Johannesburg. The church reportedly has a large following with close to 165 branches throughout South Africa and as far as Botswana, Namibia, Mozambique, and Zimbabwe.
