BR Highlanders coach, Lebitso Ratlou says he will not make any drastic changes after he took over from Tebogo Mokute. He said his aim is to avoid relegation although it appears an uphill battle as the team has won only once in 18 matches.
But Ratlou believes the problem does not emanate from the field.
“There are external factors affecting the team,” he said, though reluctant to elaborate.
He said as one of the teams that are not well resourced, BR Highlanders are not immune to challenges.
Ratlou said he might not be able to acquire new players, but believes the pool that he currently has can turn the ship around.
“We cannot start all (over) again. We will keep the core of the team,” he told Mmegi Sport.
The coach said he would not want to dismantle the whole team, although they would be cautious going forward.
“We are not about drastic challenges” he said.
He added that the performance of the team is not bad, but he will make slight changes.
Ratlou said he
He was certain that he will have seasoned Emanuel Thakadu on his books. Also, there are other players the Mahalapye outfit is chasing.
Since Ratlou took over from Mokute he has only lost 4-0 to Mochudi Centre Chiefs.
He drew his next two matches 0-0 against Police XI and 3-3 against Green Lovers over the weekend. The team sits 14th on the log with 12 points.
Ratlou is optimistic they will work together as a team and management to achieve their goal.
It is not the first time he assumed the reigns of the team.
Despite being an assistant to Mokute, he has also been a head coach of BR Highlanders on at least two occasions.
