New MoESD programme on course

Ministry of Education and Skills Development (MoESD) has embarked on a programme to take unemployed youths off the streets.

But many are skeptic of the programme dubbed ‘Upskilling and Upscaling’. The plan is to absorb unemployed youth into different institutes of higher learning for different courses ranging from one week to 36 months.

The ministry’s public relations officer, Silas Sehularo told Mmegi yesterday that registration was already in full swing and that only 5,000 unemployed youths would be absorbed during this financial year.
