Mystery behind surprise Police re-branding

The sudden and surprise re-branding of the Botswana Police Service (BPS) vehicles came as a shock to members of the public this week. The vehicles look almost identical to their South African counterparts.

But not all police vehicles have been re-branded as yet.  The vehicles however are in use and have been moving around town. One member of the public told Mmegi: “We do not know what is happening.

The new cars look so much like those of the police in South Africa.” Another woman said: “I have seen them; I have just seen pictures circulating on social media, but if that is the case it will be very unfortunate because the police service has the responsibility to inform us through the media so that we are aware of such changes.  Imagine if I was to be stopped by the newly branded police car, I will not stop because I wouldn’t know who or what it stands for.”
