Gaborone United (GU) chairperson, Rapula Okaile says their current form has nothing do with the coach, Rahman Gumbo. GU have won only one game, drew one and lost two despite being touted as one of the title favourites.

Okaile shot down reports that some executive committee members are already expressing doubts over Gumbo and his technical team’s ability to reclaim the title they last won in 2008. “That is not true,” he said. “Every Monday we have a meeting as the executive committee and discuss the past weekend’s performance of the team. But we have not discussed the future of the coach.”

Okaile said while they accept that they have not been doing well, they know their challenges which they are optimistic they will overcome. He said one of the challenges was that although they have managed to bolster their squad, they have not been able to utilise them since there are boardroom issues around those signatures. He said the issue of Hendrick Moyo and that of Tshepo Maikano are some of the challenges they are facing and hope to resolve them soon.
