All hail BAA success

Whenever international Athletics competition comes around, as Botswana we have hope that we will be in there competing for medals. Botswana athletics has come of age and has become our hope for medals and recognition around the world. This has surely not come about by chance but through planning, hard work and dedication.

While most sporting codes have been disappointing and rather off colour, the Botswana Athletics Association (BAA) remains one of the unsung heroes of sport in Botswana. The Association has over the years produced and developed world beaters who have gone on to represent Botswana with aplomb.

Botswana athletes continue to perform well at international competitions and this will augur well for the sport as more and more young prospects will look up to the likes of Nijel Amos and Isaak Makwala and would want to emulate them and see themselves competing at the highest level, representing their country.

The contest had 10 beautiful young girls as finalists and unfortunately only one could wear the crown.The judges picked Anicia Gaothuse. To all those who feel their contestant should have won ahead of Anicia for whatever reason, hardly; the judges found Anicia to be the best among the best, so desist from disrespecting our newly crowned queen on social media or anywhere else, for that matter!
