Hoping for an all-action; gibberish free season

The Botswana Premier League season kicks off this weekend and once again we are in for a humdinger of a season. And as is always the case with our football League, action is plenty, both on and unfortunately off the field; sometimes in boardrooms and courts of Law. As the season kicks off one can only hope that most of the action will be on the field and nowhere else.

Last season ended on a sour note with boardroom meetings, indecisiveness, controversy, with football matters eventually reaching the courts of Law, something that FIFA abhors. Not to sound like aim scratching a healing wound, the end of season off field shenanigans that we had to endure as football followers was really uncalled for and once again we found ourselves talking about who is who and who wields more power and influence as opposed to celebrating those who did well.

Mochudi Centre Chiefs Championship celebrations were somewhat overshadowed by the BFA-BPL-Notwane-Sankoyo-FCSatmos circus. That was unfortunate to say the least. However, the matter was settled and I hope we learnt something from the unsavoury incident to be wiser to it next time around. As the most popular sport in the country, sponsors will obviously look to football for partnerships but it works against the sport when it is always in the news for all the wrong reasons. Anyways, I hope it is a closed chapter and we move on, wiser and more alert.

The contest had 10 beautiful young girls as finalists and unfortunately only one could wear the crown. The judges picked Anicia Gaothuse. To all those who feel their contestant should have won ahead of Anicia for whatever reason, hardly; the judges found Anicia to be the best among the best, so desist from disrespecting our newly crowned queen on social media or anywhere else, for that matter! Each of the 10 beautiful young women had supporters...
