Etsha 13 man hacks grandfather to death

MAUN: Gumare police are investigating a case in which a 24-year-old man allegedly murdered his 70-year-old grandfather by hacking him with a ‘mutendere’ homemade axe in Etsha 13 on Easter Monday.

Superintendent John Kelebeng of Maun police said the incident happened at Dukwi ward after the two had a misunderstanding.

He said the enraged young man allegedly took a mutendere axe, which is a home weapon indigenous to the Hambukushu tribe and sank the sharp blade into his grandfather’s head. The old man reportedly died instantly. Kelebeng said the suspect was arrested and is currently in police custody.
