Mozambique’s national soccer team’s prolific goal scorer, Elias Pelembe yesterday stunned the Zebras with a late winner as the visiting team stole thunder from the hosts.

The Os Mambas went all the way to beat Zebras 2-1 in an exciting friendly match played at Lobatse Sports Complex. The Zebras dominated the first half of the match as they created numerous scoring chances.

Zebras’ attractive passing game saw them get the lead in the 10th minute through midfilder, Ofentse Nato. However, Luis Miquissone equalised for Mozambique and the visitors immediately gained confidence. Mozambique had an upper hand in the second half, with Zebras’ goalkeeper, Goitseone Phoko tested on several occasions. However, he made several crucial saves to deny the visitors--who were now in control of the proceedings. The Zebras were awarded a corner kick in the 62nd minute, which was well delivered into the box by Katlego Koobake but Mozambique goal keeper, Cesar Machava managed to deal with the threat.
