Hitchhikers shoot woman dead

FRANCISTOWN: A middle-aged woman from Borolong village was shot dead by strangers after a misunderstanding last Saturday.

The police said the incident occurred around 11pm along the road near Sebina junction. Senior Superintendent, Israel Tuelo said that the deceased was from Kasane and was in the company of two males driving an Isuzu van. Earlier at Nata, the deceased and her friends gave four men a lift. At the Sebina junction, a misunderstanding arose which resulted in the shooting. Tuelo said the police received a report from the owners of the car alleging that they gave strangers a lift and along the way, they did not agree on certain things that caused the misunderstanding.

He said after the shooting the owners of the car – two men - ran away leaving the vehicle behind with the dead woman inside. The two then alerted the police after the hitchhikers drove away with the car.
