BMWU query outsourcing of mining operations

FRANCISTWON: Vexed senior officials from the Botswana Mine Workers Union (BMWU) will meet the Minister of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources Kitso Mokaila on Monday to express their concerns on how the country’s mining industry is run.

BMWU general secretary Bob Malele confirmed the meeting with the minister, yesterday.

“We are optimistic that through constant interactions with the ministry and other stakeholders there will be a solution to the problems besieging the mining industry,” Malele said. He added that informing the minister of their challenges might influence policy change to meet the needs of the mining sector.
