Club spokesman, Thato Molosi, has said that already, they have achieved their ambition of collecting 20 points in the first.

With this done, Ngurungu may surpass the target when they host Orapa United in the last match of the first round.

Molosi said the strategy they adopted when they came to the Premier League has yielded positive results.

He stated that they want to survive the relegation axe by notching at least 17 points in the second round. After 14 games in the first round, the Maun side has won six times, drew twice, lost six times and sits on ninth spot in the log. Sankoyo has scored 21 goals and conceded 18 in a run that saw them hold defending champions, Township Rollers.

Molosi told Mmegi Sport yesterday that making a debut in the elite league was a challenge and their strategy was to plan for each game as it comes.

He said they knew that the odds will always be high and the main

thing is to focus. The club kept the bulk of the players that did duty in the First Division as part of a strategy to withstand the tough battle in the Premier League.

“We are successful because we kept 80 percent of the players that we had in the First Division and beefed them with a few players,” Molosi explained.

He said some of the players that were brought in and have been doing well for the club are Lesego Matoteng from ECCO City Greens, Mmoloki Kafuku (Orapa United), Morris Ruzivu from Zimbabwe and Basimanegape Moilwa, a former Nico United goalkeeper.

Molosi said they roped in Philani Mabena from Zimbabwe to coach the team with the assistance of Gadimang Tiiso who had been at the helm in the First Division.

He explained that the combination of Tiiso’s understanding of players and the philosophy of Mabena has worked well.

The club intends to beef up the squad with new players in the January transfer window.
