One of the bereaved family members, Emily Dingalo, told The Monitor that the families have been helped with money to bury their loved ones.

“We were not sure where the money came from, but the police were helpful and told us about the money.  It’s a gift that is well-received in this difficult time,” she said. By the time of going to press The Monitor could not establish the source of the money as the Police spokesperson’s number went unanswered after several attempts to seek clarification. But a grateful Dingalo explained that without the funds, it was going to be an uphill battle to bury all the deceased  from their own pockets.
