BDP slapped with P2.3m legal bill

Collins Newman law firm has reportedly slapped the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) with a P2.3 million legal bill for the marathon constitutional case. Mmegi is reliably informed that the matter of the “very high bill” was discussed at the party’s central committee meeting on Monday.

Last month the law firm’s legal eagle, Parks Tafa represented the BDP in a controversial case in which the ruling party wanted the court to declare a section of parliamentary standing orders unconstitutional.

The BDP and the Attorney General lost with cost.
