Kalavango Volleyball Club will hold a gala dinner and prize giving ceremony on Friday at Oasis Motel to recognise players who have been outstanding this season.

Kalavango chairperson, Lesedi Hule said despite financial constraints, players deserve recognition for their contribution to the club. He said Oasis Motel has provided the venue for free and the club will only pay for food and beverages. In the men’s team, Monthui Magosi, Daniel Seako and Phemelo Lekoko have been nominated for the player of the season award. Magosi will also battle for the most disciplined player award together with Oteng Hendrick and Tlhalefo Mongalelwa. The nominees for the most improved player are Otlaatla Marumo, Karabo Botsang and Thabo Sento.

In the women’s team, Monica Alfred, Gabaresepe Mashaole and Gaoleseletse Gasekgonwe will fight for the player of the season award. Keromamang Pitso, Collin Moithei and Mashaole have been nominated for the most disciplined player award while Moithei, Pitso and Magatalena battle for the most improved player award. “We are the second oldest volleyball club and we are relatively successful. The women’s team has never finished outside the bronze medal in all the competitions we play in,” Hule told journalists yesterday. He said the men’s team has been struggling because it could not retain quality players due to financial constraints.  The men team finished seventh in the just ended season while the women are leading the pack in their competition although they have played more games than other teams.
