Bowler Morton claims first scalps at New Zealand meet

Tim Morton, Botswana’s male representative at the bowls World Champion of Champions kicked off his campaign with two victories over opponents from Sri Lanka and Namibia over the weekend.

The tournament is held in Christchurch, New Zealand. Against his Sri Lanka opponent, Morton won 2-1 in a tight contest after the opening two sets were tied. The Motswana won the first set by eight shots to four before the Sri Lankan bounced back taking the second set 9-8. In the tie breaker, Morton prevailed 5-0.

Each game consists of two sets of nine rounds.  Against his Namibia opponent, Morton cruised to a 2-0 sets win.
