It was the Thamaga team which took the first shot at goal just after kick-off but missed.

However, Prisons were accurate a while later as they did not miss a similar opportunity to register their first goal. Prisons found a soft target in Jaspers and at one time were leading 8-0.

Prisons found the going easy despite the fact that they had just played another game earlier. Jaspers missed a number of good chances with the main culprit, Tshegofatso Kgaketsi, their goal scorer.

Prisons coach, Regent Mosimane said they have realised that the other teams did not have good shooters. “We wanted to contain them inside the shooting circle,” he said, adding that the strategy was aimed at denying the other teams the advantage of free scoring.

Mosimane said he was impressed with his charges, adding that he gave new players a chance to shine.

Jaspers coach, David Legakwa said they have just come back to the league after they left in 2008 and his team is playing well in defence and mid court.  “Our only problem is shooting.  I didn’t have shooters.  My regular shooters were

not available due to other commitments,” he said.  As a result, the coach said he had to convert some of his mid court players to shooters. “I have a very good mid court.  The only problem is when we reach the shooting circle.  The shooters that we used were not used to the position.  This is what killed us.  We matched Prisons and BDF Cats, the only problem was that we didn’t have shooters,” he said.

Legakwa stated that his team has relocated to Lobatse where they are able to train daily unlike before. However, like other teams, his side is struggling financially. Due to financial constraints, Legakwa said he could not field some players because they do not have playing shoes.  Another challenge is lack training equipment. But for the determined Legakwa this could only be temporary set backs.  “I hoping to deal with the challenges as time goes on,” he said optimistically.

In the other games, Prisons was defeated by Jungle Queens 39-13 while Jaspers lost to Jwaneng 17-21. Prisons defeated Jwaneng 36-14 while BDF Cats walloped Jaspers 28-1.
