Singapore netball chief executive officer, Cyrus Medora wrote to the Botswana Netball Association (BONA) confirming the development.

Six international players picked for this year’s programme are expected to arrive in Singapore on January 20, four days before the league starts. They depart on February 16, 2015.

Hans who has just sat her school exams is overjoyed by the move and believes it will give her international exposure.

“I am quite happy about this. I wasn’t expecting it at all. I am really excited. It is really important because we are the core of the 2017 World Cup team. They are getting us ready and exposed to international netball. We need to see how other teams play so that when the World Cup comes, we are ready,” the Under-17 captain told Mmegi Sport. She is likely to travel with the senior squad that will be in Singapore for the Six Nations tournament next month.

Hans is aware that upon arrival in Singapore, she is expected to be at a level of conditioning reflective of the requirements of the competition. She said she is training with the Under-20 national team that travels to Zimbabwe early next month.

Lucy Hans, a former player is excited about her daughter’s impending move to Singapore.

“I am excited because this will keep her busy and away from social ills. She will not be anxious waiting for her results.

I am so proud. I am such a proud mother. I have a diamond in my hand. When she comes back from Singapore, she will immediately get her results,” she said.

“It will be her first time away from me for such a long time.

It will grow her a bit. She will understand what it feels like when she goes to study,” she added.

Apart from competing in the NSL, international players will also have the opportunity to train with the Singapore national teams.

The NSL will provide P2,130 (S$300) weekly living allowance for four weeks to the players, an Easy Link Travel Card for internal train and bus travels, a mobile phone and a pre-paid package for local calls and sms.

NLS also provides competition attire including one playing dress, two competition warm-up tees and two training tees, travel insurance and medical insurance of a maximum of P21,300 (S$3,000) coverage for the duration of stay in Singapore.
