The Orapa bowls club player won after accumulating eight points, clinching nine out of 10 sets.  Tirelo Buckley of Jwaneng Club finished second after winning six of the 10sets while Pauline Lekone was third with six points.  Mascarenhas told Mmegi Sport said it was tough as she does not train regularly in Maun due to lack of bowling facilities.

The former Phikwe Club bowler said, she was however determined to win. She admitted competition was tough, facing former champions.

Mascarenhas is ranked number seven in the World bowls rankings. She won the Masters title for six consecutive years between 2001 and 2006 before dominating again between 2009 and 2011.

“I won the title for my people in Maun because we are in the process of setting a bowling club here. Prospective bowlers must see that their coach is doing well,” she said.

The Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) has acceded to a request to have a bowling club inside the Maun Sports Complex. Mascarenhas revealed that the area has already been de-bushed.
