Massive disco show billed for National Stadium

Disco music legend, Dan Tshanda of Splash fame, has grouped together a number of renowned South African artists to perform at his 50th birthday bash at the National Stadium on November 29.

Some of the acts expected to perform on that day include Tshanda himself with his group Splash as well as the Dalom Kids.

The line-up also features the versatile William Mthethwa who was popularly known as ‘Mr Everything’.  Another notable name is Om Alex Khaoli who used to be a member of Harari - an ‘80s group which was led by the legendary Sipho ‘Hot Stix’ Mabusa.

After a stint with Harari, Khaoli embarked on a solo career. Pantsula dance queen, Mercy Phakela, is also on the line-up.   There is Senyaka of Chesa Mpama and Romeo Wa Onkolota fame.

The satirical singer Senyaka is the one who coined the phrase di fong kong in one of his popular songs.

Other popular artists of yesteryear lined-up for the festival include Cheek-to-Cheek and Pat Shange. The festival, which is scheduled to start in the morning, is also expected to feature Thiza, Linda, Zinzi, Kongo as well as Sox and Ponka.

Sidney of the late ‘80s hit Mama’s Baby will also be in the house with Freddy Gwala.  The festival is billed to start in the morning at around 10 am.  Tickets are sold for P150 and P300 for VIPs.
