The Charity Date Auction, which was supposed to take place on Saturday at Cresta Lodge Gaborone turned out to be a big disappointment.

The chairperson of Youth Botswana, Gugu Mavuma, said after he was told that one of their biggest sponsors pulled out of the event late on Friday, he advised his colleagues to cancel the event.  Mavuma claimed that despite his counsel his colleagues went ahead with the event.

“I told them that I would not be part of that event as we had promised our clients that we were going to give them a high-profile event.  It was supposed to be a red carpet event.  I knew that some people were not going to attend the event as long as it was taken to BNYC,” he added.
