Mmegi Online :: Nchindo is dead, body discovered

The body of former Debswana Managing Director Louis Goodwill Nchindo was discovered in the Pandamatenga farming area yesterday morning by a police search party.

A team of law enforcement officers had been searching for Nchindo since Monday when he was reported missing by his family.

Sources reveal that Nchindo’s body was found on the outskirts of Pandamatenga in the early hours of Thursday by a police helicopter.

According to details emerging from the scene, after finding the white Toyota Hilux he was driving, officers found his body in the forest a distance from the vehicle. Sources indicate that his body was not intact, but was severed as if eaten by wild animals. Security officers say next to his body was a cartridge but police would not confirm nor deny this detail. Meanwhile, Police would neither confirm nor deny the fact that Nchindo had been found.

Botswana Police Service spokesperson Senior Superintendent Dipheko Motube declined to comment on the reports. “As far as we concerned we are still looking for Mr Nchindo,” he said.

However, the Nchindo family, in a statement released yesterday afternoon, confirmed that they had been notified of the finding. “The Botswana Police Service in Kasane have officially reported the discovery early this morning of the body of our beloved father and husband, the late

Mr Louis Goodwill Nchindo, who had been missing since Sunday afternoon. As can only be expected, the news of our father’s death has been both devastating and shattering to members of his family as well as his friends,” said a statement signed by  daughter Nicole Nchindo.

“For the time being, we require both time and privacy to deal with and take in, our monumental loss,” urges Nicole Nchindo. There will be no memorial services until further notice and the family is limiting visits to members of the family. Although Nchindo’s death has been confirmed it is the nature of his death that will be a subject of debate until an autopsy and DNA tests have been done on the body remains. At the moment authorities say it is too early to say how he died. While early indications point to suicide there are still gray areas. Some say he could have been devoured by animals while another theory suggests that he could have been killed.

Police spokesmen Dipheko Motube said he could only comment once he had all the answers to all the questions.

“At the moment we are waiting for briefing from the field,” was all he could say

Louis Nchindo, 69, is survived by his wife Andrea, two sons and two daughters.
