Botswana Televison (Btv) entertainment show presenter Gabriel Modise has proved that he is versatile on the small screen having presented a number of different gigs on the national television station.

Modise made his breakthrough presenting a Sunday gospel show. He later took the reigns over popular music show programme Mokaragana from Joel “Ntsoro” Keitumele who was  a legend in his own right. Although Keitumele’s shoes seemed too large to fit, Modise took it all in his stride. He introduced his own style and endeared himself to the thousands who tuned in to the show every weekend.

When he presented Mokaragana he was renowned for chanting his war cry “phunya”.  Although some viewers were not comfortable with this word associating it with sexual connotations, Modise insisted that it was an innocent catch phrase.  He explained that “phunya” reffered to unearthing talent around the country, which is the purpose of Mokgaragana. However, just when viewers were starting to enjoy seeing him on the show, he was appointed to take over a different show.
