President Ian Khama is too busy to meet the more than 500 health workers who were laid off for partaking in an illegal monumental public service strike in 2011. The workers had sought audience with the president.

On August 25, 2014, the representatives of dismissed workers, Serwalo Tirelo and Oboile Modiidi wrote a letter to the Senior Private Secretary to the President, George Tlhalerwa, requesting a meeting with the president.

He further informed them that the Office of the President had considered various options and advice but nothing could be done to assist them.
