A major dam not pumping since completion

The discovery was made only this week by the Botswana Congress Party(BCP)’s on-going presidential tour which took presidential candidate Dumelang Saleshando to Thune Dam from where he immediately shared his frustration; “When we visited the Bobirwa constituency, we passed the Thune Dam on the way to Mathathane. I was shocked to learn that since the dam was completed almost two years ago, it has remained a white elephant. It holds a lot of water but government is still to construct the pipes that will link the dam with surrounding villages. The dam remains unused and is of no benefit to anyone”.
Thune Dam, built on the Thune river in the Mmadinare area at P650 million by Chinese company Zhong Gan, was scheduled to be watering the villages of Mathathane, Tsetsebye, Bobonong, Mabolwe, Semolale, Gobojango, Moletemane, Molalatau, Lepokole, Mothabaneng with more villages targeted to be added into the pipe line.
