Walker pulls off San Francisco upset

United States-based squash star Alister Walker pulled off an early upset in the NetSuite Open first round as top seeds Gregory Gaultier, Amr Shabana, Peter Barker and Miguel Rodriguez each cruised through matches to advance to the quarterfinals in San Francisco.

Walker outlasted sixth seed Mathieu Castagnet for a 3-2 victory in 98 minutes at the Bay Club San Francisco on Saturday. Walker battled Mathieu Castagnet for his 3-2 win in 98 minutes at Stanford University.

He progressed to the quarterfinal of the tournament that goes on until tomorrow. The defeat adds to the 2014 French Nationals runner up’s woes.
