BTTA hosts Orapa Open

More than 250 players are expected to compete in the Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA) Orapa Open this weekend. For the first time in its history, the tournament will be played on a mat in line with international standards.

The tournament, sponsored by Debswana Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines at the tune of P30 000 has attracted local players and counterparts from South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia.

BTTA competition secretary Kudzanani Motswagole said the tournament would be held at Orapa Community Junior Secondary School’s sports hall on Saturday and Sunday. Singles players will have to pay P50, as registration fee while for the doubles the fee is P100. Motswagole said it was pleasing that a high number of players have registered with more expected. The categories are singles, doubles, and mixed doubles for both senior and junior categories.
