Mine rubbishes union safety claims

FRANCISTOWN: Tati Nickel Mining Company (TNMC) has rubbished claims by the Botswana Mine Workers Union that the mine had neglected safety standards following weekend accident in which one person died. Unconfirmed reports indicate that the deceased died after he was hit by a rock.

“Until investigations are complete we will not know exactly what happened, or where the rock came from,” said TNMC public relations manager Tebogo Rapitsenyane.

“That is not true. There is nothing like that and there are no rocks above the bench,” he said.
