Teams arrive for African States Tournament

Seven countries arrive in Botswana tomorrow for the African States Tournament (AST), which starts in Jwaneng on Saturday. Kenya, Malawi, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, Swaziland and Namibia join Botswana for the weeklong event played under the aegis of the World Bowls Federation (WBF).

The bowling competition is hosted on a rotational basis by member states. The last tournament was in Namibia.

Kitso Robert, the Botswana Bowling Association chairperson said everything is on track for the tournament. Lebogang Mascarenhas will represent Botswana in the singles discipline. She will also partner with Pauline Lekone to compete in the pairs. The triples women’s team has Obopile Ashby (skip), Bonnie Fox (second), and Tirelo Buckley who will play as a lead. The fours team is made up of Ashby (skip), Fox (third), Buckley (second) and Lekone (lead).
