BMD youth behaved well in Serowe

I was at Gomolemo Motswaledi’s funeral. I was sitting inside the tent - the main tent - and was seating near bo Quett Masire, Duke Lefhoko, Nonofo Molefi, Phillip Makgalemele and other prominent BDP members, and we never observed any “tension brewing”, which perhaps is why they stayed until the end.

Botsalo, Fedilis and OD came late, followed shortly by Dumelang accompanied by Dithapelo, with Nonofo Molefi coming in a little later.

No one booed them, or even did anything that could have made them uncomfortable or made anyone feel there was tension brewing.

The decision not to have the BDP and BCP reps speak was taken Thursday evening, as a pre-emptive decision to avoid a repeat of what happened at the Memorial Service - that decision was not taken because there was any “tension brewing”!

The directors of ceremonies, and rightly so, waited to announce it until it was about time for political party reps to speak, to announce the slight changes in the programme.

Yes, people clapped hands when the announcement was made... if that was an indication of tension brewing, then I don’t know.

As for the statement that Dumelang issued on Facebook, people being “evacuated” and all, and the subsequent “apology” to Dumelang from Ian Kgama speaking at a political rally somewhere in the Mosu area... that

I would not wish to comment on!

I am, however, disappointed that my friend Peter Batsalelwang goes on to say in his report, “go utlwala ha bangwe ba sa kgona go bua ko phitlhong ka go ne go le mekubukubu”... why didn’t they capture those mekubukubu on tape, as they supposedly happened before Masire took the podium (Lesego Raditanka and Dumelang were to speak before him), rather than bringing back a clip from a couple of days prior??

Is this why they put the story on hold for 2 days, to wait for Kgama to address some rally at some obscure village, and offer an apology to his buddy?

Gomolemo was given a dignified sending off bagaetsho, and people, in trying to score cheap political points (le go roma bana ko Btv boloi), are in the process, and without any shame at all, desecrating his funeral and his memory.

Ba boa ba re tsosetsa bohutsana gape re ne re re gongwe re tla bona some closure!
