FRANCISTOWN: Chess will make its debut at the Botswana Primary Schools Sports Association (BOPSSA) games, which kicks-off here on August 14.

The tournament has suffered a drawback after the North West pulled out due to logistical problems, leaving 10 regions to compete. BOPSSA publicity secretary, Lawrence Moseki said preparations for the schools tournament have been completed.

The competition will be used to select the Under-13 national teams for various codes that will represent the country at the regional COSSASA tournament in Zambia later this year. However, Moseki said chess and cricket will not be part of COSSASA games. The official opening of the BOPSSA games will be held at the Francistown Stadium.
