Some homes in Block Four also known as Rantutu ward, in Mogoditshane had pending issues with the Mogoditshane Sub Land Board which stalled progress on connection. At the heart of the stalemate were reported disputes between the land board and residents. The residents had to be allocated new plots or moved to different ones so that the settlement could be properly developed as they were considered squatters. They watched helplessly as new developments mushroomed across the ward while they had no access to basic amenities.
During a Kgotla meeting chaired by ward councillor Botho Jack held in Rantutu recently, Mmegi learnt that this positive development does not favor all residents. Although residents expressed gratitude for the electricity connection some expressed disappointment that they still have no access to water. One resident Rankunyana Rankunyana complained that residents have to walk long distances for water. He said since 2009 WUC officials had been telling them they are awaiting repair parts which had been ordered overseas. Another resident Montlenyane Ditshuge complained that they are fined P40 for losing their water coupons and even then the new ones come with no balance. She said this is a rip off and urged the councillor to intervene.
