Glimmer of hope for Kgafela in SA

Mmabatho High Court Judge President, Mashangu Monica Leeuw on Wednesday put a dent in Kgosi Nyalala Pilane’s defence when she announced that she would not consider Kgosikgolo Kgafela Kgafela II’s pending charges in Botswana in the matter in which the paramount chief wants to be declared supreme Bakgatla leader.

Leuw reserved judgement in the matter on Wednesday, with about 2,000 Bakgatla having travelled from Mochudi hoping to see Kgafela pronounced the leader in both Botswana and South Africa.

The Judge President said the two countries were different jurisdictions and had independent statutes governing bogosi.
