F/town women football league to have more teams

FRANCISTOWN: The chairperson of the northern Women’s Football League, Francistown region, Desmond Jenamo has said they intend to increase the number of teams when the competition kicks of in August.

Currently there are six teams in the league. “There are some clubs that have shown interest in participating in the league. One is based in Monarch, two in Letlhakane and another one from Coloured location. Having many teams will help widen participation among women football as well as attracting sponsors. When we have many teams in the north, sponsors know that they will have a greater mileage when they support us. It will also allow more women to take part in the sport, which will help develop it,” he said.

Jenamo added that having many teams could improve competitiveness in the league and widen the pool of players for the national team.
