Convicted robber blames evil spirits

It was just after case facts, which included robbing a house on March 21 in Makomoto, were read that Ezra Mhlanga told the court he was under the spell of evil spirits when committing the offences.
Chief Magistrate Gaedupe Makgatho had earlier said that he was satisfied that Mhlanga’s pleas of guilty in both offences were unequivocal. “I was bewitched to commit the offences I am facing. I have learnt from my stay in jail that crime does not pay. I pray with the court to have mercy on me when passing sentence,” said Mhlanga.
