Be a rainbow to someone�s dark cloud

When we, as individuals, consider the vastness of the world and the challenges that are everyday ushered in our direction we are like dwarfs. However, the good news is that we are dwarfs that are actually perched on the shoulders of giants. And because of this we are well able to see further than what these giants can see, and achieve more than what these giants can achieve. This is not because of the acuteness of our sights or the dexterity of our limbs or the stature of our bodies but because we are hoisted aloft and elevated by the magnitude of the giants.

One key to progress in life is to find a giant on whose shoulders you can perch yourself. This can take the form of a formal mentor-mentee relationship, or it can even take the less formal form of studying the giant’s life and modeling your life in line with theirs.

The principle is that we can learn and we ought to learn from other people, especially those that have gone before us and navigated some of the challenges that we face. One such giant in contemporary times is Maya Angelou.
