Boitekanelo holds first conference

Boitekanelo College will host the first ever Emergency Medicine Conference from May 15-16, 2014 at Gaborone International Convention Centre. The event will be officially opened by the Assistant Minister of Health, Dr Gloria Somolekae.

The conference which will be held under the theme “Setting the Agenda in Emergency Medicine in the Southern African Region” provides an opportunity for health care professionals in the Southern African Region to share ideas and experience on best practices of emergency medicine.

“As a country that faces a high number of fatalities from road traffic accidents and Non Communicable Diseases, the conference offers Botswana an opportunity to learn from other countries that have strengthened the Emergency Care over the years.  The conference will be attended by a variety of health professionals ranging from doctors, nurses, paramedics, policy makers, government officials, health care funders, medical suppliers, academics, researchers and members of the fourth estate among others,” said a statement from the institution yesterday.
