1. Levy-free alcohol
Because imbibers of the brew really need this one. Alcohol used to be cheap- very cheap in fact. Take your mind back to four years ago when you could get a six-pack of your favourite brew without having to break the bank. The introduction of the levy has brought agony to drinkers.
2. Kabelano Charity Cup
The one-day charity spectacular tournament ceased to exist, leaving for a very boring soccer off-season. Remember the stunt bikers who used to spice up the day with their gravity defying moves at the National Stadium? And who could forget the beautiful soccer played out on the pitch by the participating teams.
3. The National Stadium
The nation needs this facility. It is disheartening to see the country's biggest stadium closed for so long. Some children only hear about the stadium in the media or see it only if they pass by, but have never set foot in the stadium. Hopefully the authorities will act this year and the Stadium will be brought back to life.
4. BDF Day
The kids need this one. This used to be one of the biggest, most fun filled family days in the city. People, young and old, would not miss this day that saw soldiers performing some thrilling activities and participating in combat games. The now defunct National Stadium would be packed to the rafters on this day. Who can forget those fighter jets that would fly over the city at lightning speed or the paratroopers descending down the skies?
5. Braais at Bars
It was such fun relaxing with buddies on a lazy Saturday afternoon, knowing you could just drop by the nearest drinking hole and enjoy a delicious braai. The air used to smell so sweet with the aroma from these braais.
Because she needs to bring Mokaragana back to life again. Surely Saturday evenings have never been the same since she left the television talent show to pursue a career in radio. She set a very high standard for the show as every presenter that came after her tried so much to be like Mega-one time!
7. Eric Ramogobjwa
The local music industry still needs him. His stable, Eric Ramco Records, at its peak in the early and mid 2000, brought us the best of local music. It is the one that put Vee in the spotlight with that classic Kasi Angels album, gave us the hip hop group Third Mind with their hit song Ngoma. Not forgetting the all-conquering Matsieng who won a Kora award!
8. The Zebras
The nation needs to celebrate. I mean, how can a national team go for a full calendar year without a win? It is hard to believe that the last time the Zebras registered a win was way back in 2011.
9. Robert Molefabangwe
Because his voice is missed in Parliament, on the opposition side though. Many could not believe it when 'Molf' announced he was joining a party he spent so many years talking against, the BDP. That was back in 2009.
He has tried on a couple of occasions as a ruling party member to have a voice, but his popularity kept on dwindling so that many almost forgot who he is.
10. Kgotla (musician)
He owes his fans an album or two. Word has it that he quit music to go into full time church ministry. That song 'Matshidiso' is still a huge hit to this day and a follow up album was expected.
11. Phenyo Mongala
We need to see his skills on the field. Whatever happened to 'Mzambiya' at Orlando Pirates surely robbed the country one of the finest soccer talents. Hopefully he can bounce back in 2013 and mesmerise defenders with those step-overs.
Because it is just not 'cool' to leave a club and go home at 2am. That is the time when real clubbing used to start, remember? And it would go on until the break of dawn. Amen!
