BSA in National Diamond rebuilding project

The Botswana Softball Association (BSA) will appoint a task force to oversee the refurbishment of the National Diamond pitch and the construction of a practice field. The association has been allocated land for the two projects.

A section of the National Diamond has been demolished including the pitch to pave way for a road as part of the refurbishment of the National Stadium.

The BSA will use the P750,000 it got from the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) as compensation for the demolition of the National Diamond to develop a new pitch.  BSA spokesperson, Kabelo Kwape said the pitch will be extended eastwards to the nearby football ground.  He said the association will, as part of the expansion, develop a practice field.  He explained that the role of the task force is to determine the cost of the project and whether it is viable to develop the practice pitch given that there are no water and electricity connections in the area.
