Premier League experience has not counted for Mogoditshane Fighters and Prisons XI in the First Division South League as they have failed to clinch promotion. The two teams were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season. On Sunday, hosts Fighters beat Prisons XI 2-1 in their league game, but the results do not mean much for both teams.

The two teams are left with a game each to wrap up their season.  Prisons XI chairman, Anthony Mokento told Mmegi Sport that they are still in a rebuilding process, but wouldn’t say how long it would take. During this period, Mokento said they are not concerned about the performance of the team.  But he insists there is nothing wrong with their team, noting that they did not lose too many players when they relegated.  When they were relegated from the Premier League, Prisons XI was coached by Maxwell Moyo.  However, he has since parted with the warders.   The team is now under the care of Kaelo Montwedi, who had been with the team for a long time and was one of Moyo’s assistants.

 Mogoditshane Fighters’ welfare manager Letsweletse Moseki blamed their current state of affairs on the previous committee.  Moseki accused the old leadership of sabotaging them, saying they have made things difficult for the new committee as the team property was not handed over. Moseki said they did not even have access to the bank account, and at some stage the team did not have a full kit
