Motlakase longs to play at home

Motlakase technical manager Dimpho Terena said they are eagerly waiting for the completion of their stadium in Palapye so that they can enjoy homeground advantage. He stated that the players miss the motivation of the home supporters.

"I am not trying to make excuses but we are always playing away from home. Francistown is far from here (Palapye) so a lot of our fans cannot afford to travel to cheer us. Playing in front of home supporters can have a positive impact on the performance of the team. Players are spurred to good performances when they know they have support," Terena told Mmegi Sport.

Motlakase lost their first game of the be MOBILE Premier League campaign 4-2 to Nico United before drawing 0-0 with Extension Gunners. But they flopped dismally in the next game away to Jwaneng Comets losing 4-2 after conceding three goals in the first 15 minutes at the Galaxy Stadium.

"The game against Nico was an eye opener for us because we approached the Gunners' game with a lot of determination and we were able to come out with a point. Going to Jwaneng, we did not expect things to turn out that way at all. We were starting to play well but early mistakes cost us dearly. We were not supposed to have conceded three goals so early in the game," he

said.

Terena asserted that once they start playing at home, they will post better results. He said work on the new stadium is in progress and that they expect the pitch to be ready before the end of the year.

"I know we have to get some points away but we also need home advantage. But even before our ground is ready for use, I am sure we would have started winning some games. We have tried to assemble a good team. Perhaps luck is not on our side right now," he said.

The team has brought in hard working former Comets' skipper Marshal Gono, Lesego Lubinda from Uniao Flamengo Santos, sharp shooting Eric Molebatsi from Nico United, as well as striker Anesu Gondo from relegated Great North Tigers.

"The four directors of this team are doing everything in their power to make our job easier. The players are paid on time and we want that to continue. They have brought new players and we still have some targets when the transfer window opens in January.

A lot of factors counted against us like the issue of home ground and the fact that we have a lot of new players. Soon our squad will gel and the players would have self-belief. Just give us another three games and things will be different," Terena said.
