Karate dominates BNSC awards nominees

Botswana Karate Association (BOKA) has the most nominations in the shortlist for the Botswana National Sports Council (BNSC) awards. Out of the 10 categories, BOKA is represented in nine. Junior female sports person of the year award pits karateka, Tsholofelo Maduma against athletics’ rising star, Galefele Moroko and swimmer, Naomi Ruele.

Moroko who has had a bright year seems to have an edge in the contest. She won gold at the Confederation of School Sport Associations of Southern Africa (COSSASA) games and the International Schools World Championships in Czech Republic where she was crowned the most valuable performer.

Swimming’s David van Der Cloff, Innocent Tidimane of tennis and karate wonder kid, Khaya Groth will battle it out in the junior male sports person of the year award.
