Man whipped for assaulting ex-girlfriend

A 38 year-old man was given four strokes yesterday for harassing and assaulting his ex-girlfriend at Extension 14 in Gaborone. Philemon Monametsi was whipped after he pleaded guilty to common assault before Urban Customary Court deputy president Patricia Radipati.


He admitted that he went to harass his ex-girlfriend Onalenna Dao at her workplace on March 1, 2014.  Dao who works at Cantina Bar in Extension 14 told the court that Monametsi came to intimidate her and during a heated argument, he started pushing her in the face and tried to strangle her.
