Mmegi Online :: Lobatse split as BMC, Gunners clash

The derby comes at a time when last season's league runners-up, BMC are struggling to hit form. BMC have played four games, winning only one of them. Against Chiefs on Wednesday, BMC took the lead, but went on to lose 2-1 leaving them among the bottom four. Gunners on the other hand registered their first victory of the season with a 1-0 score line against new comers, BR Highlanders.

The two rivals have in the past few seasons swapped players with the likes of Kemmy Pilato and Hendrick Moyo now playing for BMC. This season, Gunners also captured Takudzwa Ndoro following his release. Moyo and Pilato have not been themselves since decamping to BMC. Pilato in particular was one of the most exciting midfielders before he picked up an injury that sidelined him for a long time. After his return from injury, he struggled to return to his form and moved to BMC.

Tension is likely to be the order of the day tomorrow as there is no room for another slip up by the two sides. BMC are under pressure to repeat last season's heroics, while Gunners cannot afford to miss out on the top eight once again. Both sides are under the tutelage of two local coaches, Daniel Nare (BMC) and Odirile Matlhaku (Gunners) who are regarded as some of the best the country has produced.

Things are moving from bad to worse at Township Rollers following another loss on Wednesday, this time at the hands of Nico United. It was Nico United's first victory of the season just like BDF XI who tasted their first victory against Rollers last week. Supporters are beginning to wonder what has gone wrong at their team. Despite losing two key men, Mogakolodi Ngele and Kabelo Dambe, Rollers have managed to keep most of their players.

They are yet to win a game despite being touted as one of the favourites before the season began. Some attribute the slump to

the problems at administration level. The club is said to be divided as some supporters query the club's decision not to have annual general meetings. The conflict has led to some members of the executive committee resigning. Tomorrow they take on Mogoditshane Fighters at Molepolole Sports Complex with their star player, Sekhana Koko doubtful. Koko was substituted due to injury on Wednesday. Against Fighters, they face a side that is unpredictable. They also come up against a side that shows little respect to opponents despite their limited squad.

On Sunday log leaders, Mochudi Centre Chiefs face Notwane in what is expected to be a thrilling encounter at the SSKB Stadium. Chiefs failed to win their first match of the season, but have never looked back with Kekaetswe Moloi carrying off where he left off. Against BMC on Wednesday, Moloi scored in the dying minutes of the game to give his side a 2-1 victory over BMC which took them to the summit of the log standings. Notwane on the other hand have had a relatively good campaign since their controversial return to the Premier League.

On the same day, Gaborone United (GU) take on Uniao Flamengo Santos in Molepolole. GU under David Bright has been in scintillating form this season but will be disappointed by their 2-2 draw against Motlakase Power Dynamos on Wednesday. GU scored two goals in the first half before they allowed Motlakase to level matters, therefore surrendering their position at the top of the log to defending champions, Chiefs. All the matches start at 3:30 pm.
